'09 / '10 INDOOR SEASON WINDING DOWNMarch 31st, 2010

The 2009 / 2010 winter indoor season is coming to a close. After the Easter weekend break, just two races left to finish out what has been an incredible season of racing. The points battles have been hard fought from start to finish, and even though the Sportsman class championship has already been decided with still one race remaining; the expert class is still very much up for grabs.

In the Sportsman class, Brian Mills captured his third career win and third of the series to lock up the championship going into the final race. However, the battle for second through fourth is still very much in doubt between Justin Fernandez, Alex Fanning, and Wally Norris. All three drivers will be looking for a solid run in the final race to cap off what has already been an outstanding season. Both Fanning and Norris will be looking to pick up their first career wins while Fernandez hopes to hold on to the 2nd spot in one of the more competitive Sportsman class seasons to date.

The expert class has seen a pair of wiley old veterans duking it out for the top spot all series long. Cliff Wilkinson has opened up a small gap on teammate Steve Quartermouse going into the final race. However, the pressure is still on Wilkinson to have a strong result in the series finale. A win by Quartermouse combined with anything worse than a 2nd place run for Wilkinson will see Quartermouse holding the champions trophy instead.

The final race should prove to be one of the most exciting races of the series. Championship positions on the line along with a perfect chance to fine tune the machines for the season final 500 lap event the following week will combine to make the racing on April 11th something the drivers won't ever forget.

  MISC. UPDATESMarch 11th, 2010

Several things to go over for the racing here at Allen's.

Indoor Season Updates

The Mini Late Model rules have been updated. As stated in last week's driver's meeting: we will be teching cars this week. Make sure your car is legal! The rules that have been updated are Tires, Rear Spoiler, and Front Splitter/Valance. The rear spoiler measurement is set so that the detachable spoiler that comes with the kit is legal. For those who lost the kit spoiler and made their own... this is fine as long as it is within the maximum chord measurement.

ALSO NOTE: The minimum body height of 3.5" will be raised to 3.75" after the end of the winter season. This is a fair warning to those who have pushed this rule to the limit. 3.5" is way too low (our fault) and it will be corrected next season.

The Schedule for the current series/season has been shortened to 7 races instead of the originally planned 8 races. The reason being is the race on April 4th was cancelled due to Easter Sunday. So again, no racing on April 4th Easter Sunday. The race on April 11th the following week will still be the season finale not counting the team race.

500 Lap Team Race

Once again we are planning to have another team race after this series is over which will be on the April 18th weekend. Information will be posted once we hash out the details this weekend.

Outdoor Season

The much anticipated Dirt Oval season is approaching. Some information has been posted on DirtOval.com which can be viewed by clicking HERE. Further details and information will be posted here on the website within the next week or two.

There looks to be a lot of interest in the outdoor season this year especially with the return of Saturday night racing. Start getting your cars ready, it is going to be a lot of fun!
